Wahoo's is a well known chain on the west coast. Many years ago I saw this place on Food TV. When I found out there was a location in Austin, TX it was a must try.

Since my first visit to Wahoos I've returned many times. Every person I've taken to this place has been impressed by the food.

The environment is a very party like atmosphere. The walls are covered in stickers from skateboard, surfboard, & snowboard companies. The music is usually alternative or pop rock, and there are flatscreen tv's positioned all around the eating area tuned to channels showing extreme sports.

The food is excellent, the enchiladas as well as most of their items come with pork, chicken, fish, or shrimp. The shrimp tacos come blackened or grilled. The enchiladas come with red or green sauce. The red sauce is not your chili or traditional mexican enchilada gravy, its a red tomato sauce similar to an italian sauce, and the green is a sour cream / cilantro type sauce. Plates come with black beens and steamed white rice that is seasoned with a spice Im not sure of.

The food always arrives fast, even when its crowded, its always hot and fresh. The fish tacos are some of the best Ive had anywhere, the shrimp enchiladas are the best Ive had anywhere. The white rice, black bean combo on the side makes for an interesting mix of flavors.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good Baja style food, or just good food in general. But to the snowboarding crowd this place is like being in a snowboarders hangout at a big resort. Its just an awesome environment with great food.
